Last weekend, we went to Park City to a family reunion. It was fun. I think reunions are more fun if you know all the people. This was the first time that we had been together as the James E Ellison family. We have always had the EP Ellison Family Reunion that has hundreds of descendants. This one was small, but fun to meet relatives that we had not met or had forgotten.
I remember my Aunts and Uncles that were the children of James E. I was a child. I remember that I loved Otha and Elizabeth; they lived by the railroad tracks. Elizabeth was sweet and kind. Otha was a great gardener. Elizabeth died the year I was married.
Bea was a proper lady. She was very wealthy and beautiful. She was a great teacher to my Mom. My mom used to ride the Bamberger Train to stay with her aunt for the weekends. She also was instrumental in teaching my mother to love ice skating and swimming. She was a second mother to her. I remember going to see Aunt Bea in the nursing home with my mom. She was such a healthy eater all of her life that her body was too strong to die when her mind went. She was not there, she was basically non responsive to us. It was very sad and hard on my mom. Mom really loved her.
Alean was one of my favorites. She had a fun, interesting house with many nooks and crannies. I remember playing there many times. It was decorated to the hilt; remember that it was the early 70's. The decorations were like the Brady Bunch house. She was loving and kind. She died while I was on my honeymoon. I felt really sad to have missed her funeral.
My Grandpa was a great man. He was a hard worker. He never gave up. He knew he was going to be a success even after failing many times in his life. He was not afraid to take a chance. When he was working at the El Drisco in San Francisco, he chased a robber and was shot in the face. The bullet never came out. I loved him. He was a great man.
Isabell was kind and nice. We didn't see her too often because she lived away. When she visited, we would try to be on our best behavior. She seemed kind.
David was a very stylish one. He always wore hats. He lived in Salt Lake and drove a big car. His wife made Laurel and Andrea's wedding cakes. They had a neat house. I remember loving them both.
