IF THEY TAKE OUT YOUR WISDOM TEETH ARE YOU STILL SMART?

Britton with his wisdom teeth and smarts still intact

Yesterday, Britton and I went to the Oral Surgeon's office for the removal of Britton's wisdom teeth. He was definitely excited/nervous. This was the first time that Britton has been put under. He was very quiet and thoughtful on the ride over. He had heard the horror stories from all his friends that have had theirs out. He was watching all the other patients going out of the office with nervous laughing. He had high hopes for himself to not be swollen or in pain. He figured he would jump right back the next day. As we waited in the office before it started, we were going over who I should call if he didn't make it. His blood pressure was taken twice and his heart was racing. The doctor came in and asked the standard questions. Then he asked what Britton was going to do in life. Britton said, be a surgeon. Britton was particularly nervous about the IV. I asked him how is he going to do it when he was a doctor? Britton responded that he would be ok inflicting pain on others, just not himself. It took 11 seconds for him to drop into subconsciousness. They sent me out to wait. About 30-40 minutes later they came and got me. He had made it with flying colors. He was sitting in the recovery chair. He was funny. He was all talk, (very unusual for Britton). Of course it was kind of impossible to understand what he was saying. He said he told the Dr that he totally loved the drug. He said, "I need that for every night to help me sleep." When we got him in the car, he was funny. He said, "I need my phone to text my friends to tell them I am alive." He started taking off his seat belt. I stopped him and said, you don't need to take off your seat belt to text. Then he turned up the radio and started singing really loud, (another unlike Britton thing). He said, this is a great song. (remember that his mouth was packed with gauze) Over-all, he slept most of the day. Today, he is very swollen. He is mad at that, he didn't want to look fat. He said, no one comes over today. We'll see which friend he makes an exception for. But he is content to stay in bed so far.

Thanks for the memory, Dave! At first, I was worried that you were going to go in to detail about me running in to the pole. Now, I wonder if people might get the wrong idea..."the pole in Germany." Hmmm ;). I seriously didn't know about those funny stories about Britton. I can't see him singing out loud in the car. That is a riot.
